This notice explains what personal data FreightIntel collects when you use freightintel.co.uk and the FreightIntel app (together, the "service"), why we collect it, who we share it with and what rights you have. We keep it plain on purpose. If anything is unclear, email us.

Technical logs (IP address, time, requested page or API path, response status)Every request to our serversTo keep the service secure, find faults and prevent abuse. Legitimate interests.

We do not ask for passwords, payment details or special category data. We do not use advertising trackers. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your data to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. The app stores your sign-in token and vehicle profile in your browser or device storage so you stay signed in. See our Cookie notice.

4. Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers (processors) under written terms. They act on our instructions.

  • Cloudflare delivers the freightintel.co.uk website. It handles website traffic, including visitor IP addresses.
  • Our own UK-hosted servers run the app, the API and the database. Account, chat and position data is stored there.
  • Google provides a public STUN server (stun.l.google.com) that the chat call feature contacts to work out your network address. Google receives your IP address when you use calls.
  • Email delivery provider: sign-in emails are sent through an email provider. We will name the provider here before public sign-in is switched on.

Other users: chat messages go to the people in the room you post to (the drivers lobby, a fleet room you belong to, or a direct chat). Your chat handle is visible to them. Your operator or fleet manager can see vehicle positions you share to them.

We may disclose data if the law or a court requires it, or to protect our rights and users' safety. If we sell or restructure the business, data may transfer to the new owner, who must honour this notice.

5. Where data is stored and international transfers

App data is stored on servers in the United Kingdom. Cloudflare and Google may process limited technical data (such as IP addresses) outside the UK. Where that happens, it relies on the UK's approved transfer safeguards, such as the UK-US data bridge or the International Data Transfer Addendum.

6. How long we keep data

7. Your rights

  • tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy (access);
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete your data (erasure);
  • restrict or object to some uses, including uses based on legitimate interests;
  • give you your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it, at any time (this does not affect past use).

Email info@freightintel.co.uk and we will respond within one month. We may need to check who you are first. These rights are free to use unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed codes and tokens, per-user access checks on every request, rate limits on sign-in and messaging, and role checks on the server. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your rights at risk we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

9. Children

The service is for working adults in the freight and haulage industry. It is not aimed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
